Govt extends due date of filing ITR to August 31


The due date for filing of Income Tax Returns for Assessment Year 2018-19 is 31.07.2018 for certain categories of taxpayers. Upon consideration of the matter, the Central Board of Direct Taxes(CBDT) extends the ‘due date’ for filing of Income Tax Returns from 31st July, 2018 to 31st August, 2018 in respect of the said categories of taxpayers.

Earlier, various professional bodies including ICAI requested for extension of due date assigning the various reason including technical glitches in the income tax filing portal.

After extension, assessee who is not liable to audit will get be benefited.

Consequent to changes made in Income tax return filing utilities on account of due date extension and schema changes for A.Y. 2018-19, Please note:

  1. Saved Drafts will not be available in case of Online ITR 1 & 4.
  2. In case of Offline utilities, XML has to be re-generated using the latest utilities and to be uploaded.
